dataman

Did anyone else have a Dataman? We loved ours and used it for years. Dataman was like a calculator/maths game thing. It gave us a sum and we typed in the answer. If we got it right a bubble thing went across the screen and we felt good about ourselves. It also did speed tests and stuff.

  1. Wow. I remember using one of these at school. Does it still work?

  2. My dad worked for Texas Instruments in the early 80's and so I had a Dataman, a Speak and Spell and a digital watch called "First Watch" which came with a book about time. I so wish I had kept them!!! There was another maths one called the Little Professor, but it was nowhere near as cool as Dataman. (Does that sound geeky? You bet!!)

  3. Don't know where Dataman is now. Probably chucked out. When I was looking through photos last night I saw one of my sister wearing a 'dataman' shirt. I remember we got an iron on transfer with our Dataman.

Today I bought Joel a maths game thingy that is nowhere near as cool as DM. It has no personality.

Radiation grrl - you must have been pretty hip to have all that stuff. The seven year old in me is envious, even now.

  4. The bizarre thing is, I don't think I ever told anyone I had them, except for the watch of course. It was my secret geek stash.

  5. I FOUND MY DATAMAN A FEW MONTHS AGO!!!!
I was helping my mum and dad clean out the shed and there he was. Now he is in the proud possession of my son, who will come to know its true gaming beauty as he gets older.
I can send him to you to borrow if you like...
