Another Hallelujah?

I can't not link to this. An American worship leader has done a 'christian' version of Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah.

And yes, it's bad.

I couldn't listen to it the whole way through. I felt too embarrassed.

  3. two hours later, I still feel queasy from listening. Espesh 'I just wanna say thankyou to ya'

    Demonic.

  4. Any song that says "I just want..." just shouldn't be sung.

'I just want...' It's a cliche and it's not even true.

We don't 'just' want any one thing. We want lots of things. Let's be honest.

  5. I didn't hate but that could because I like the music so much. I was hardly even listening to the lyrics. The overall sound just kind of sweeps over me rather than actually hearing the words.

Is that the wrong way to listen to songs? Is there a wrong way?

  6. Of course that's wrong! Lyrics lyrics lyrics! Someone has put hours and hours into them Melissa. [though, I suspect, not in this case... best to keep to the music on this one!]

  7. ok, first of all, you do not know the first thing of what 'christian' means if you ever put it in quotes. so dont do it again.
second of all, if someone says "i just want," you have no idea if that is true or not; just because you are selfish does not mean that everyone is.
lastly, there is no right or wrong in how you listen to music. i mean, that is the stupidest thing ive ever heard! why would there be music if poems would do? i am a recording artist and song composer, so i should know.

  8. Glad to see that the crazy gets spread out all over the internet, and not just at the Roadhouse!

  9. I blame you guys. According to my site-meter, anon is from California!

But we're happy to share the crazy.

  10. heh. 'Anon' obviously doesn't understand what it means to put a word like 'Christian' into inverted commas.

I do agree with what he said re: music though. If the lyrics aren't worth listening to then don't; doesn't mean you can't appreciate the music though.
