Today I was a classroom teacher for 3 hours, then a PE teacher for 1.5 hours. I had to teach 5-7 year olds how to swim. I was in the pool with them. Dragging them from side to side. They weren't very good, but no-one drowned. I'm exhausted.
Thankful that I've been helping out with Micah's school swimming. It meant that I kind of knew what to do and could give a semi-convincing performance.
Don't you need some kind of special accreditation to teach kids to swim? Could the parents sue you? Just a thought...

ReplyDeleteTeachers are meant to do pe with kids - apart from specialist classes. In QLD this normally includes swimming - not that we know how...
