last night...

...we heard Peter and Christine Brain speak at a ministry couples dinner.

They suggested that the ministry spouse should aim to be a non-anxious presence.

I like that.

I can do that.

  1. Can you flesh that out?

  2. Not about life in general. Just about church stuff. It doesn't help Andrew if I'm stressing about his work. He can stress about that quite well on his own.

  3. I like the concept but I'd be curious to know how you do that without becoming disengaged from people in the church. I become non-anxious when I don't care all that much about what's going on.

  4. I don't need to know what happens at session or at committee of management. I choose not to stress over church finances. Nothing I can do there. I don't need to carry the burden of responsibility that Andrew does so I won't.

How to do this and still stay engaged? Good question. Speak firmly to self and then start work on a hobby.

  5. Sounds like something that should be accompanied by spooky organ music.
