introverts in the church

Reading this.  Grrrr.

[review to come when I am more rational.]

  1. That bad?

A pity, if so, because I think the concept is great. Though a companion volume "Extraverts in the church" is needed...or better still, a comprehensive volume entitled "What does Jesus have to say about Myers-Briggs?"

  2. No one else in the world has given it a bad review so it could just be me.

  3. I like the idea of What does Jesus have to say about Myers-Briggs - has anybody ever Myers-Briggs tested Jesus? I'm going to research that today...

  4. yes. apparently people in the usa all think that jesus was an extrovert.

And apparently the church is run by and for extroverts. You, Nathan, are what's wrong with the western church. (and me too.)

  5. I saw a discussion yesterday about Jesus and what sort of physical contact he had with his disciples! I think there is a real danger in us putting Him (and his commands) into our own cultural mould.

You sound, Simone, like you feel as though the book has persecuted you. It is easy to slip into the trap "this is what we're like - we're right and you are wrong" mind-set. Sounds like this book has indulged in that thinking a bit. I hate parenting books who do similarly (though the connection is a little obscure) - if you don't do what we say and you get a 'bad' result, then it is your fault.

We're off to an SU camp. See ya.
