my purple paper and silver foil
untouched.
you will unwrap me
for the sweetness, the
comfort
I offer
my smoothness
irresistible.
january
a tiresome month
vainly boasts of new beginnings
but confident I wait.
I am here.
your constitution
is always to fall,
so why should I fear
resolutions
never kept before?
sar 2010
can you pick this one?
ReplyDeleteObsession?
ReplyDeleteHope.
ReplyDeleteAnd with that, there was nothing for it but to add you to my list of favourites on my blog list!
Hopeful expectation.
ReplyDeleteOr maybe seduction
Temptation - and maybe even contempt (from the chocolate bar - hah!).
ReplyDeletePride. Maybe conceit?
ReplyDeleteMaybe this one wasn't as easy as I thought.
ReplyDeleteOr maybe it was confusing because temptation is more of a state than an emotion.
That's what I was thinking, anyway. But the chocolate is proud and contemptuous and seductive. And obsession is in there too.
I thought temptation - but then I thought that was too obvious. That's the problem with poetry. Half the time you don't understand it, and that means the other half of the time you think you don't understand it even when you do!
ReplyDeleteOh! How I miss the sweetness, the comfort...
ReplyDeleteI'm Dairy free at the moment while trying to continue feeding our young and my first thought when the doctor told what was required was "Chocolate".
It's much easier resisting knowing that I can return to my old ways soon.
Melissa - 'tis but a few months till you can return to your first love! [Soy chocolate is a disgusting thought, isn't it!]
