... when a crane ran into it and smashed up the back.
The driver was pretty freaked out by what he had done. He's thinking of paying for the damage himself so he doesn't have to tell his boss. A friend was driving past and saw what happened. If he hadn't I think it's possible that the crane guys might have done a runner.
It's annoying for us, but it's an old car and we have another. I wonder if the crane driver has stopped shaking yet?
...cos there's nothing worse than a crane operated by unsteady hands!
ReplyDeleteIn college days we were in Little Queen St and a truck that didn't fit sliced our car open. A neighbour heard it, stuck his head out the window and got the licence plate, but the police didn't want to bother with it. Turns out they take the eye part of eyewitness literally in Newtown ;-)
However, a crane is quite inventive. It's really hard to think of a less common vehicle that is commonly on the road. You must feel very special!
Yeah. Pretty special.
ReplyDeleteI used to have nightmares about accidents on little queen street! But a truck?!?
Laughing out loud at how you have described this in such an understated sort of way! But laughing aside, hope the insurance etc all gets sorted with ease.
ReplyDeleteYep, a truck. When they realised that they'd hit us on the left, they shifted right a bit. Only took out one fuse box on that side of the road!
