1. Sit at the piano (in the dark) and play Be Thou My Vision.
2. Decide that D (the key in which you usually play it) is unsuited to black out moods.
3. Play it in Bb - an appropriate blackout key.
4. Just for fun, try to play it in all the different keys.

Ben - Em7 is lovely - all the chords in D are... but I felt in a blackout you need the more velvety tones of a flat key. Ab though and even Eb aren't really soft enough. Bb is perfect.
ReplyDeleteMaso - I'm not a great pianist at all, but I get chords and can transpose. Mathematical exercise.
