I read Andrew's post and was encouraged by what he wrote - glad to know I'm not barking up a totally ridiculous tree with my own thoughts. I agree that culture and a backlash against feminism has a larger role to play in all of this than we give it credit for.

I had the same thought as Andrew re. our boarding school experience. I'm not a mum, but from an historical perspective, the model of full-time stay-at-home mothering that is being glorified in many circles is rather unusual, though so is the 'career' alternative. I do think both options put incredible pressure on mothers.
