ReplyDelete-I've no significant childhood memories of easter myself
-My denomination doesn't really do the easter/christmas thing. Yeah, we have services but we don't do it for the regulars!
-I'm not really a 'special day' person at all. Birthdays, mother's day... whatever.

ReplyDeleteWe aren't much good on the 'special days' thing either here. I always feel like we are a bit weird because of that so I'm glad there is someone else out there like us....

ReplyDeleteI love the ground level low church thing and can't quite grasp the way that the church year just seems to seep in all over the place.
I keep telling my guys we're meeting because they want to, not because we have to.
And also anyone who comes to church on Good Friday, Easter Sunday, Christmas or any of the others can't complain about hearing the Gospel.

I love it. Love planning and having services where we take the time to reflect in a particular way about the loving sacrifice of Jesus and the hope of the resurrection. Love that it's not messed up by all the sentimentality and family worship of Christmas. Love that it brings visitors to church. Love, love, love the long weekend - one of the times I do actually pay tribute to our 'Judeo-Christian heritage'!

2. Easter.
3. Christmas.
I'm not into Christmas apart from the fact that weirdly, although everyone runs around like chooks with their heads chopped off about what they have to get done before they go on holidays, there is a calmness at work at that time of the year. Apart from that I hate the pseudo-god called Santa and get all bah-humbug.
ReplyDeleteI like Easter because I celebrate it with thousands of others at the best music festival in Toowoomba. And yes, I'll be back next year (God willing) despite having to evacuate the main site on Saturday. I also catch up with friends from other places at this festival so that's an added bonus.
