you will fit in this square box, yes you will!

I feel like an overbearing parent forcing a thuggish son to do ballet.

I'm meant to be writing a song on faith.

The song doesn't want to be about faith. It's determined to be about heaven. I'm determined that it be about faith.

Who will win?

My guess, neither of us.

  1. Just Christianise these George Michael lyrics...

I know not everybody has got a body like me,
but i gotta think twice, before i give my heart away,
and i know all the games you play,
    cuz i play them too,
oh but i need some time off from that emotion,
time to pick my heart up off the floor,
but that love comes down without devotion,
well it takes a strong man baby,
but i'm showin' you that door,
    i gotta have faith

    gotta have faith,
    gotta have faith,
    gotta have faith!

baby, i know you're askin' me to stay,
say please please please don't go away cuz you're givin' me the blues,
baby, your mind made all the words you say,
can't help but think of yesterday and another who tied me down to the lover boy rules,
before this river becomes an ocean, before you pick my heart up off the floor,
well that love comes down without devotion,
well it takes a strong man baby,
but i'm showin' you that door,
    i gotta have faith

    gotta have faith,
    gotta have faith,
    gotta have faith!
    get tha f*** up!!!

    i gotta have faith,
    i gotta have faith,
    i gotta have faith,
    i gotta have faith!
    faith! ahhhh faith!! ahhhhh!!!!

If you need musical inspiration Limp Bizkit did a version of it.

  2. That was the Limp Bizkit version of the lyrics. Here's the George Michael version:

Well I guess it would be nice
If I could touch your body
    I know not everybody
Has got a body like you

But I've got to think twice
Before I give my heart away
And I know all the games you play
    Because I play them too

    Oh but I
Need some time off from that emotion
Time to pick my heart up off the floor
And when that love comes down
    Without devotion
Well it takes a strong man baby
But I'm showing you the door

    'Cause I gotta have faith...

    Baby
I know you're asking me to stay
Say please, please, please, don't go away
You say I'm giving you the blues
    Maybe
You mean every word you say
Can't help but think of yesterday
And another who tied me down to loverboy rules

    Before this river
    Becomes an ocean
Before you throw my heart back on the floor
    Oh baby I reconsider
    My foolish notion
Well I need someone to hold me
But I'll wait for something more

    Yes I've gotta have faith...

  4. Like playing guitar in a straight jacket. I'm sure this Augie March song is relevant to your situation since I thought of it immediately I saw this post. Just not sure how...

You don't keep me company, you all turn out wrong,
If you are my daughters, if you are my sons,
I can only hold you inside for so long,
O song, did I lead you on?

If you are my love, well love what's wrong?
You don't keep me company for near enough long,
I can't feel or touch you, or hold you for long,
O song, are you leading me on?

Friends come in time, and then they are gone,
I know what it's like to be floating along
Without a warm body to heap your cares on,
O on and into the night.

For I have been bad now for twenty years long,
For centuries you have been pure and strong,
If you thought me a good place to stay you were wrong,
O song, did I lead you on?

  5. Is there a reason why it can't be about heaven? Are there already too many songs about heaven?

  6. I've been asked to write on faith. That's why I'm trying to!

  7. Maybe its because its hard to write a song about a concept. Heaven is more concrete or at least we have more concrete images for it.
