Those who can stay calm when all around them is in chaos...

 ...probably don’t have a clue about the seriousness of the situation.

  8. Yep the last one applies here now. Japanese are very scared inside, but look placid on the outside. Though the many masks we're seeing are probably helping them hide the feelings.

  9. But would it be stereotypical to say that Japanese people as a rule appear fairly unstressed and self-contained anyway, even in the absence of an earthquake disaster? (Sorry for taking this off track...but I'm genuinely curious...)
