daylight saving time begins tonight

Once again I'm glad to be Queenslander.

  1. Thanks for reminding me - maybe I can call my sister's place early tomorrow.

  2. Though, technically, I'd suggest that the daylight you're saving belongs to tomorrow night. Except it won't be night. So, tomorrow afternoon.

Same down here. You won't have to change your watch to come to TWIST ;-)

  3. You have no idea how often we have to replace faded curtains down here.

And getting the cows to the dairy? Don't get me started.

  4. I think it was originally introduced by Octavius Caesar...

  5. I cannot tell you how happy daylight saving makes me, after a long, cold, wet, dark winter!!

  6. Really? Boy, that Octavius Caesar guy pops up in the most unexpected places.

You can just see in the latest staging in the Colosseum of the musical Arachnehomo Duos, some cynical newspaper editor declaring, "An emperor called Otto Octavius Caesar ends up with eight limbs - what are the odds?"

  8. It's a tangled web we weave, Mark...

    Nice.

  9. We love having daylight saving here (Hamilton, NZ).
It suits the climate - cold, cloudy, wet winter vs warmer, sunny, dry summers
And the number of hours of daylight - means sunrise is about the same time in the morning year round.

But I still would not want it in QLD, there is enough sunny warm weather all year and it getting light at 4.30am vs 5.30am doesn't really make a difference - it still means young kids wake up way too early either way!
