motherhood and serving
After spilling my unformed thoughts in the long post below, I had a chat with my mother-in-law. She said something like this: "The christian life is about service. We never know how we'll be called to serve others in the future. It may be by working. It may not be. It's likely that we'll be doing lots of different things throughout our lives." Wise.

I've been having conversations about this very subject with some wise women - and I've come to realise and accept that an added layer to take into consideration is personal capacities/personalities and how that lines up against whatever season you find yourself in. Some women will be able to maintain their home and love their families and still have some to spare to work. Others will only become frazzled by adding work and then will serve no-one! Hooray for your MIL. It surely is all about serving - and making sure that we meet our first priorities of serving God and the family He has given us first.
