What's with these natural disasters?

  2. For a scientific answer, I think it has to do with the effect of La Nina across the Pacific Ocean and a negative phase of the IOD (Indian Ocean Dipole), both events causing increased rainfall on the East Coast of Australia.

  3. My kids wanted all sorts of details to the point of me having to pretend to be a meteorologist tonight. What's the biggest cyclone ever? How does it form? What if it goes all the way across Australia to Perth? (after explaining it will weaken crossing the coast I got:) But what if it turns around and goes back out again...yada yada yada. Sent them to bed!

  4. Don't know but I'm maybe the Third Eagle will have something to say about it?

    Not meaning to be flippant. It sounds like there are some towns up there that have come close to being destroyed.
