songs on abortion

We've just finished our Amos series at church and have a topical sermon this week on abortion. Question is, what songs go with a talk on abortion? I have some ideas but I'd be interested to see the direction others take it.

Any ideas?

  1. Apparently Graham Kendrick wrote 'O Lord, the clouds are gathering' for an anti-abortion rally. I must say that hearing that put me off the song very much!
I guess my feeling with a 'talk on abortion' is that what you say would depend who you are talking to. Given it is a Presbyterian church congregation, I would (perhaps entirely unfairly!) assume you are more likely to have the pastoral problem of people being thoughtless in their condemnation of women who have abortions or women who have had abortions and are consumed by guilt - rather than people who are thoughtless in their approval of abortions. So I would tend to have lots of songs about grace eg. Before the throne of God above etc. But you know your congregation a lot better than I do!

  2. Ah, Jo... we're on a similar wave-length! That's one we've got down.

  3. Gold! If you could write a song called 'Greed Kills People Too', I'd use that as well!
