Wiis are fun but I don't know how replayable they are.
PS2s are old.
I scored a second hand PS3 from a colleague (whose husband upgraded to the new PS3).
I love it. I also love second hand stuff. My tip - if you get a PS3 - don't buy more than the controller that comes with it. Buy second hand PS2 controllers from EB for $6 and then buy an adapter plug from ebay for $5 (plus postage) and you have a functional $11 controller rather than a functional $98 controller.
*embarrassed cough* We have a Wii and an Xbox 360 and a PS2.
I like the Wii the most, because it has the most accessable games (both in terms of pick-up-and-play ease and suitable for everyone), and is good to play in bigger groups (even at family gatherings all ages get into it). But Tim loves the Xbox more for the type of games he likes to play (ie war games, role playing - 'serious' games I guess and the graphics are definitely better). The PS2 we only use for Singstar. We have been tempted to get the PS3 for the bluray but it overlaps too much with the Xbox games to justify getting one - but I have heard really good things about the game Little Big Planet. But you can't play PS2 games on the PS3 unlike the other consoles where you can play most older games.
I think it would come down to what sort of games interest you the most - maybe go to EB and check out the sections and see what appeals. They're all good for different things.
Look Simone - I posted!! My sister bought a Wii a few weeks ago. It's heaps of fun. Easy to enjoy with a group, makes you get off the couch and move. Just avoid hitting your hand and the remote into the wall.
Of course I've never played a PS or XBOX so limited comparison.
Xbox 360.

I say grab a book or go for a walk.
ReplyDeleteI've seen people actually socialise over the Wii.
ReplyDeleteParticularly entertaining is watching people over 30 attempt yoga poses on Wii Fit. Good stuff.
