I'm not after super-spiritual answers.
Just... what's your thing at the moment?
Finish the sentence.
"After I get all this other stuff done, I'll be able to..."
Sleep? Have a cup of tea? Watch TV? Do some gardening? Work some more?
For me, more viola practice is the end of all things at the moment. I've got it in my head that after 60 hours more practice, I'll start sounding good. How fast can I clock up those hours? (I have a lesson at 9am. If I have a really quick shower I can squeeze in ten minutes before I go.)
You?
Completely obsessed with bonsai. Once I take care of all that other junk I can go and potter with plants, or pore thru the million bonsai books I've borrowed from the library.
ReplyDeleteLove it! Not bonsai - you can keep that obsession - but love that you love it. And admit it.
DeleteCryptic crosswords (solo); a card game called Dominion (interactive).
ReplyDelete@Ben: man, that was a sadly missed opportunity to say you were potty about bonsai...
Hi Anthony. Good to hear from you!
DeleteI think it takes a certain type of brain to do c.c's. I just can't. But I'd love to play (win) dominion.
Watching West Wing at the end of the day. I'm following your lead and I'm up to Season 2. Plus, playing Settlers of Catan with my friends and Killer Bunnies with my two eldest kids. Totally shallow answer!
ReplyDeleteBrilliant. Can't wait for AS's new series to start.
DeleteI've tried. I have. But I have no idea. What does AS stand for? I feel a dag for asking the question but nothing is coming to mind. All Saints? Archie's Skiing? Another Sizzler? Adventures of Sylvia?
DeleteAaron Sorkin - WW creator. Watch this trailer. It is his new show, http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/hbo-aaron-sorkin-the-newsroom-trailer-306691
DeleteExcellent. At least I still have the rest of WW to keep me quiet until then.
DeleteScrapbook or sew. Surprise surprise.
ReplyDeletePredictable. Don't you find the mess of scrapbooking or sewing off-putting?
DeleteAh, I remember the West Wing days...kept it under reasonable control until the last series when I was snatching episodes at lunchtime while the kids were at school!
ReplyDeleteFor me, reading. With a cup of tea.
I'm new to the tea thing. Find it hard to have a cup of tea and do anything else. You must have worked it out. What are you reading?
DeleteDo you like coffee?
DeleteI'm reading "Jesus Keep Me Near The Cross" edited by Nancy Guthrie. It's the book of readings about Easter but I didn't have time to read it before Easter. Waiting for "18 Words" to arrive from The Book Depository.
Not sure. I seem to be between obsessions at the moment. Suggestions anybody?
ReplyDeleteBut when this particularly day of child-rearing is over, I get to go to Annie!!
How sp is better. Yay for Annie!
DeleteI think it's hard to have an obsession (apart from a tv show) at your stage. Give it a few more months.
"My son, no - wait! My screenplay! No wait, my music. No wait, blogging. No wait, arguing on blogs. No wait, getting my little tacker to crawl. No wait, work. No wait, my knee exercise. No wait... " <-- THIS
ReplyDeleteI couldn't find a link, but the Nicholas Cage's opening monologue of Adaptation expresses it nicely too.
You just need one major one at a time. But like Petrina, obsessions at your current stage will mostly lead to frustration.
DeleteHello Simone- since I don't know your email address, I'll post this here. It's so refreshing to teach such an enthusiastic student! Just in regard to youtube videos of violists- here are some I was able to find quickly that you may enjoy:

How embarrassing that my teacher found my blog!
DeleteThanks for the lesson this morning. I want to sound like you!
Sorry- I did feel a bit like I was snooping, but then I thought, it is a public blog after all! One of my friends just recently put a link to one of your blog articles on their facebook page and I noticed it was you. It's a great blog!
DeleteIt's not snooping. I hope. If it is I snoop all the time!
DeleteGet back to the West Wing. Made it to Series 5 before Uni took over :(
ReplyDeleteAnd start my poor little man on solids. He's definitely ready but I haven't been able to find a time in the diary to fit it in. Have decided that Friday's the day regardless of what else happens....
ReplyDeleteDo 4th children need solids? If you wait for long enough, you won't have to worry about pureeing it.
DeleteTempting. But he is almost six months old already. I think his weight gain might be levelling off (although I really don't know, I haven't bothered with weighing him either). And the recommendations have changed...again. Now they seem to be back to recommending 4-6 months again. For a while there it was wait until six months. That was good. I could put it off for longer then.
DeleteCrochet. Dr Who. Sleep.
ReplyDeleteDr. Who. Cool. Which series?
DeleteUmmm. The one with Amy & Rory where you find out who River Song is.
