... don't write a bio of yourself describing yourself as a 'homeschooling mother' (unless the article is about homeschooling or parenting or education.)
If you have published an article about gardening or electrical circuits or geriatric health we don't need to know that you homeschool your kids. It's irrelevant. I can't think of any good reason why you would put it in.
[end rant.]
Yes. That is all.
ReplyDeleteReally? That wouldn't bother me - people put their occupations in their bios because it tells you how they spend a lot of their time - 'homeschooling mother' is the same kind of thing. It doesn't make me think any more or less of the person, it just gives me an idea of who they are - which is what a bio should do.

ReplyDeleteAh, another case of someone defining themselves by what they do, not who they are or possibly even by what they enjoy. One day (one would expect) she'll 'retire' from that job - I wonder how she'll define herself then.
ReplyDeleteI guess I'm not sure we can make many assumptions from the fact that someone uses that phrase! Maybe the bio says 'x is a homeschooling mother who lives in Brisbane, is saved by grace and loves eating chocolate'.
ReplyDeleteI think people can write what they want in their bios:) One might also say this post is irrelevant or unnecessary?
