the trouble with metric...

... is that the words are so ugly.

'Miles' is nice. 'Kilometres' is awful.

'Inch' has a certain something about it, but 'centimetre'?

Poetically, metric will never take off.

    Surely somebody has to pipe up that poetry is all about metre, right? I'll rise to the bait.
