The Hallmark men. There's something to be said
for generic greetings. Sentimental
phrases are best left to the experts. Wed
them with impossible ornamental
fonts and they'll be read in the best light.
These Hallmark men, they fill the page. For what
can I write that won't sound lame or trite?
But words there must be and this worthy grott
of fairy floss spinners weave platitudes
that dissolve into nothing. No card
should say too much. A message too long bores
or says things best unsaid. My words are few
but each one speaks the truth. For dear you are
and I remain, affectionately yours.
